Observatorio de Piazzi Smyth
Mountain Guajara, located within Las Canadas del Teide, hosted the first astronomical station of the world. Here worked the Scottish astronomer Charles Piazzi Smyth with his telescope in 1856, who demonstrated that high altitude sites allow the best astronomical observation. We should not forget that in 2012, Granadilla de Abona was the first municipality in the world to be declared a Starlight tourist destination.
